handmade ice cream cones + chocolate chip mint

As Nicole at Herriott Grace says goodbye to long summer days, here in Australia we are saying hello! It was a hot ice-cream imbibing weekend!

In clebration of the warm weather I am sharing Nikole’s Chocolate chip mint ice-cream with handmade cones with beautifully crafted cone rollers!

HANDMADE ICE CREAM CONES

2 (60g) egg whites, room temperature
1/2 cup + 1 tablespoon (60g) icing sugar
15 grams granulated sugar
1 teaspoon (5g) pure vanilla extract
1/3 cup + 1 tablespoon (42g) all purpose flour, sifted
a pinch of salt
2 tablespoons (30g) unsalted butter, melted
unsalted butter for greasing the iron

In a medium bowl whisk together both types of sugar. Add the whites and whip until the cipro without prescription mixture is frothy and ribbons begin to appear. Add the vanilla. Whisk in flour and salt and beat until well combined. Stir in the butter. Bake in a prepared and preheated waffle iron made especially for cones until golden. (As a general rule I bake 1 tablespoon of where to buy levitra on line batter for 1 minute and generic viagra cheap us 25 seconds on setting 5, but your machine may have different settings.) Repeat, greasing your iron as you go. Roll each waffle immediamtely after it comes off the machine (small cotton or latex gloves are helpful here). I like to leave a little space at the top of each roller but practice to get a shape you love, I think that’s the fun part! You’ll notice in these photos that I fold the bottom of my cones, but this is not necessary, it’s simply an aesthitic choice. If you’d like them more traditional just skip folding them and pinch the bottoms into a clean point.

+ For those looking for a more traditional size we’ll be adding a larger roller size to the shop in the next while. Join the list here.

Charming Hotel in Greece

This breathtaking place is located on one of the most beautiful Greek islands - Mykonos.

San Giorgio is a very charming hotel because its owners truly believe that “people are not seeking for luxury in a traditional definition any more” and offers to their visitors the fine taste of the 60s bohemian.

On purpose here was created a very special atmosphere that will make you feel like you are at the summer home of your close friends.
And with the Greek $ crisis this maybe more than day dreaming!

the Christian Dior boat

Captain John Galliano, of the Christian Dior boat

throws the anchor down in the warm waters of the Pacific with nautical-themed outfits.

The Christian Dior Spring Summer 2011 collection mixed a variety of marine themes, from Polynesia and the docks of Marlon Brando’s “On the Waterfront” to the Rodgers & Hammerstein musical, “South Pacific”, and Rainer Fassbinder’s 1982 film, “Querelle”. The catwalk was a rusting slipway, set against a harbourside setting of wooden pilings, chains, gantrys and ropes. The clothes blended tough-guy T-shirts, sailors’ trousers, life-vests and nautical cagouls, with flimsy, chiffon mini’s, bubble-hem dresses, and fringed, ‘hula’-gowns.

Models, styled in the manner of the 1950′s movie pin-up, Bettie Page, with false fringes, flick-up hair, and bright red lips, posed and gave jaunty salutes in faux captain’s hats at the end of the catwalk.  Designerz Central

A bubble of fun @ the northern beaches…

Time with my great friend, Tim is always a spontaneous laughter-filled adventure. And the phrase of the weekend was ‘it’s complicated’ to avoid explaining anything!

The Isetta is an Italian-designed microcar built under licence in a number of different countries, including Spain,Belgium, France, Brazil, Germany, and the United Kingdom. Produced in the post-World War II years, a time when cheap short-distance transportation was most needed, it became one of the most successful and influential city carsever created. Because of its egg shape and bubble-like windows, it became known as a bubble car.  Wikipedia

summer stillness

Ah the lazy days of summer…napping in a hammock by the beach.

Sometimes life gets in the way of posting on the blog.

I’m again energized after a fun filled week in Sydney full of social shenanigans!

Hence my blog silence for the past week.

I will share some of my adventures in the next couple of posts.
